What is more troubling is that some will take the fantasies to be reality and will settle for nothing less than disregard of federal law. This undermines respect for the Rule of Law more generally. This suggests that some fantasies - in this case about federalism - have serious downsides which, as you suggest, was one of the common themes of Fantasy Island.
