The UCP are a divided and fractured mess. All the adhesive in the world cannot put the UCP back together again. The UCP goes through leaders like I go through socks and underwear. Preston Manning will be scratching his head and wondering where he went wrong in this latest unite the right merger attempt. Alberta had a pretty decent conservative government when Peter Lougheed was in charge. The province was being looked after properly. That changed for the worse when the pseudo conservatives and Reformers took over.
Come to think of it, there has been conservative parties in Alberta, and in Canada, who didn't retain their leaders. Ever since Ralph Klein was abandoned by the Alberta PCs for constantly making a fool of himself, the Alberta PCs never kept a premier that completed a full term. The UCP are on their second leader. The CPC also have changed leaders since Stephen Harper had stepped down in 2015. They change leaders, like I change my socks and my underwear.
Four and half months from an election? The UCP seems to have all the survival instincts of a kamikaze pilot. Funny how *that* word keeps coming up in the context of conservative leadership in this province.
Oh. please, oh please, oh please be true! As the saying goes; never interrupt your enemy when they are in the process of making a mistake'.

The extreme right is either grotesquely optimistic or very desperate. I’m thinking optimistic, if they’re really trying to purge Kenney loyalists from Smith’s cabinet—and it’s too early to tell. But if the vipers are fanging each other, the Utter Chaos Party is likely to self-destruct.
I finally downloaded and read the entire Free Alberta Strategy document that was the inspiration for the Alberta Sovereignty Act. That removed all remaining doubts I had about whether the UCP can competently govern Alberta. The fact that our Premier is openly endorsing and implementing a plan to support Alberta's seccession from Canada to me is clearly a crossed line. She MUST go!
You nailed it again, Lisa! Smith should have taken a your course on Canadian politics when she was at UofC!

"The UCP goes through leaders like I go through socks and underwear." I love this sentence so much!

'and talk of changing leaders,'

Lord, what a mess. Smith should have stayed in schlock-talk radio, where her foot-in-mouth disease was a benefit.
It seems Jason Nixon is next on the Take Back Alberta target selection:
